Tuborial Coffee Project 2016

Objective: 15 Coffees, 15 Videos, each approx. 5 minutes long (76 minutes total ), of how to make each barista style coffee at home.

Shoot time:  7 days

Editing time: 6 weeks

At first glance this project appeared to be simple & straightforward. But the specific requirements of the shoot resulted in a startling amount of footage to be edited, and filming & editing required a unique & comprehensive approach to a very fiddly subject matter.

Continuity was a constant consideration, in order to get the best possible outcome. We couldn't be happier with the results, which are due to the best of care & attention to detail. It was important that the footage have a strong aesthetic quality, whilst being clear, concise & informative.

The result was a wondefully engaging learning resource with a sense of style that now belongs to Tuborial resources.

JOSEPHINE Short Film 2017

Genre: Gothic Period Drama, Short Film (12 mins)

Shoot time:  3 days

Editing time: 4 weeks

The most ambitous project we have undertaken, JOSEPHINE is our independent directorial debut. We produced the film from start to finish, from writing the script & creating the dramatic aesthetic of this unusual piece of film to sourcing, and falling in love with its haunted location. Set in the late Victorian era, JOSEPHINE is the dramatic story of a high society lady driven mad by jealousy in a time where there was seemingly no option, but death, to leave an unhappy marriage. Filmed in just three days on a very limited budget, we are thrilled with what was achieved by the comparatively small team we had the pleasure of directing. JOSEPHINE has already been selected to take part in her first film festival!

We sourced the actors, costumes, props and locations, and designed the lighting (colour grading) and sound (music & soundtrack). We had a small, but talented group of people that helped bring this story to life. Filmed on location at a Welsh castle famed for its many hauntings, JOSEPHINE is an aestheically pleasing piece of drama that we're excited to put out there, and build upon.  We're proud to say that it is a piece of work that displays our collective skills to date at their best, & hints at what we are striving towards in the future.

It took 3 weeks to plan, 3 days to shoot (due to the budget!) & 4 weeks to edit. Standing at 12 minutes long, it is quite an ambitous debut. It has shown us what we're capable of, and made us a little more creatively fearless in our approach to other contracts.

MARK PONTIN GROUP, THREE DAYS Music video 2014

Genre/Concept: Blues Rock. A story of revenge.

Shoot time:  3 days

Editing time: 6 days

This project was always gonna be fun! The visuals to a guitar riff driven piece of heavy Blues Rock by British Blues award nominees MPG had to be as vivid, strong & intriguing as the song they belonged to. The song itself is a story of jealousy, madness & murderous revenge. The video's concept was to draw the audience in to the story of 'Patch', our jilted hard faced character. Patch is a man of few words, plagued by jealousy & tortured by his own thoughts & decisions. Throw in a girl, a gun, a few exploding water melons & an epic location or two... & it's a memorable combination that truly reflects the dark, pyschological recesses of a tortured, jealous mind.

A THOUSAND SHORES ALBUM ARTWORK,  AYESHA 2013

Genre/Concept: Beachy, Sun-Soaked Americana

One of our first professional design projects was AYESHA's debut album artwork. A Thousand Shores had a clear personality that needed a specific design approach. The album itself is a mixture of Americana, Roots, Country & Blues, with themes such as love, loss & lonliness. We went in search of some suitable photographic images that captured a sense of longing. The album also had a strong link to the ocean, as that's where Ayesha would often find herself when trying to finish writing the 10 completed original songs.

A Thousand Shores was met with critical acclaim, and it was amazing to see it on sale in hard copy at a few of our favourite record stores, as well as have it available online. We are proud to be part of the debut album, and also pleased to see the finished product & the visual design that AYESHA had in her mind come to fruition. So as a musican & an artist, this project was very rewarding for Ayesha. She has since taken the skills she aquired her own project & built on them to offer assistance to others with a vision that needs realising.

MPG, DAYS OF DESTINY/TEXTURES ALBUM ART & PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS 2014-16

Genre/Concept: Modern Blues Rock

For their past two albums we have produced photography for PR & Promotional materials for British Blues award nominees Mark Pontin Group. They have a strong sense of style, seeking to bring a clean, modern aesthetic to a classic genre. The albums have also had strong visual themes. It's been an interesting design journey being instrumental (pardon the pun!) in the band's evolution in presence & style.

LEARNING RESOURCES

Shoot time:  Variable

Editing time: Variable

To date we have filmed & edited some beautiful footage for use as engaging learning resource visuals. There is nothing more powerful than a strong creative narrative that engages it's audience to develop & learn. A couple of examples of this kind of work we have been involved in are Resolve It's Superhero's Self Defence for kids, & Yogadam Yoga, which is a great resource that seeks to make yoga accessible to everyone. Both projects required care & attention to detail to achieve specific outcomes, for learning purposes.
